Dover Castle

On Sunday, August 30th we drove to Dover to explore Dover Castle and the White Cliffs of Dover.  The kids loved seeing the sea and the Port of Dover. We started with the Castle, which was not like the others we have seen. Dover is so big that it doesn't have an audio guide, the kids were bummed at first but loved being able to just go and explore.  Dover Castle's site was an Iron Age hill fort many centuries before the medieval castle was built, and it still contains a Roman lighthouse and an Anglo-Saxon church. The kids thought it was really neat to know that the movies Avengers Ago of Ultron and Into the Woods both had scenes that were filmed at that castle. We also had the opportunity while at the castle to watch some reenactment of different jousts and games. After the Castle we went over to the White Cliffs of Dover and did some hiking. They were so beautiful!
